Heart Worship in 2022

Introduction: Can I be honest with you? If we have to have a certain kind of music, lights or setting to WORSHIP Jesus Christ then something seems to be wrong… admittedly, it helps to get our mind & hearts focused. But if we are always DEPENDENT upon a song, worship leader, or the right circumstances in order to WORSHIP our Lord, then we need to check up and see if our relationship with JESUS needs some ADJUSTMENTS.

WORSHIP is an overflow of gratitude and praise to the ONE who has loved us and forgiven our sins; namely, Jesus Christ.
WORSHIP is a deliberate act of the mind, will and emotion based on the indwelling of the person of the Holy Spirit.
WORSHIP is driven by one’s need to look beyond one’s SELF, and place one’s self at the disposal of the One who is being
WORSHIPPED… JESUS.

JESUS is greater, higher, mightier, stronger, and wiser than all of us.

He is above all CREATION!
He is in charge of every SITUATION!
He is the God of our SALVATION!

So often today, what is coined WORSHIP is just mere ENTERTAINMENT. Perhaps entertainment has its place in our life but please do not CONFUSE the two. ENTERTAINMENT is not WORSHIP.

Or worse, what some call WORSHIP today is nothing more than a show of the FLESH… focused on personalities and performances (got to have the right stage, lights, sounds – much like a rock in roll/or country concert, etc.).

Remember our Lord uses CLEAN vessels to anoint and work through.

Think with me a moment about WORSHIP:

“Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Eph. 5:17)

1. Our object of WORSHIP should be JESUS not singers or people!

2. Our mode of WORSHIP ought to be BIBLICALLY based!

3. Our motive for WORSHIP ought to be for the purpose of glorifying JESUS not SELF!

4. Our goal in WORSHIP ought to be to get in His presence and be transformed because of His glory!

5. Our lives ought to be practicing daily WORSHIP with our Lord and corporate WORSHIP on Sunday.

6. Our relationships ought to be impacted because of our WORSHIP!

7. Our understanding of our need for WORSHIP should be preparing us for ETERNAL WORSHIP in heaven!

Conclusion: If our WORSHIP does not make us fall in LOVE with JESUS more, then it must not be true WORSHIP. Besides that, if our WORSHIP does not get down into moving our stubborn will to the point of OBEYING the WORD of GOD, it must not be biblical WORSHIP.

My prayer: Lord teach me to practice WORSHIPING You in Spirit and in Truth.
