Turning Your Mess into Being Blessed

Introduction: Will you hand your mess over to the Lord in order to be blessed? We all have our mess. Go ahead and admit it! Either we can keep holding on to our mess, or turn it over to Jesus Christ and be blessed.

Here’s how that works.

1. Remember Who You Are and Come Under His Authority (1 Pet. 5:6) –“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.”

Who is in control? You? Not hardly. Why not submit to God’s sovereignty? Come under so that you can be over. Makes sense?

2. Remember Who Jesus Is and Let Go of Your Anxiety (1 Pet. 5:7)– “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

The word “anxiety” has to do with a distracted mind. Are you feeling distracted? Why worry when you can pray? By the way, the cure for care is prayer.

3. Remember Who the Devil Is and Stand Against Your Arch Enemy (1 Pet. 5:8–9 )– “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”

Watch out for the lion on the loose. Be alert. He will roar when he has his prey. But do not run or retreat from him. Instead, stand and fight against him in the name of Jesus Christ. Stay clothed with His armor (Eph. 6:10–18). Sleep with it.

4. Remember Whose You Are and Claim the Victory (1 Pet. 5:9–10)– “But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”

Suffering is inevitable. Suffering today—glory tomorrow. Please notice that suffering is just for a little while. Afterwards, as we draw near to God, He strengthens us and secures us because of His peace, presence, and promises.

Conclusion: What a great word from the Lord! Will you turn your mess and be blessed? How? By going back over and coming under His authority, letting go of our anxiety, standing against the enemy, and claiming the victory!
