Blessed Assurance

Introduction: Can you know that you are saved? But how can you have a “know-so salvation”? Perhaps you are struggling with doubts or lack of assurance? Just last night, in a conversation with someone, this subject came up. Please read the following: And if for any reason you still have doubts, then call someone—a Christian—and let them lead you through the Scriptures.

Here’s how this writer has a “know-so salvation”:

1. Being there when it happened! (Rom 10:9-10) – “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

Listen to this promise: “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Rom 10:13)

One little boy was asked about being saved. He said that he and Jesus did it. This sounded confusing. When asked what he meant, he replied, “I did the asking, and Jesus did the saving!”

When speaking of conversion, keep in mind that it includes both repentance {turning from} and trusting {turning to}. That is turning from leaving Jesus out of your life and turning to and trusting in the blood of Jesus Christ.

2. There has been a drastic change since calling upon Jesus for forgiveness! (2 Cor 5:17) – Jesus changes our “want to’s”! We do not “want to” dishonor Him anymore. We do, however, “want to” please Him! In other words, we have come under “New Management”!

3. We have God’s love letter—signed, sealed, and delivered. (1 John 5:11-13) – “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

Right here is God the Father’s signature! Are you going to believe Him?

4. Signs of chastisement {spankings} have occurred when repetitive disobedience happens! (Heb 12:5-11) – “My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him…..”

Learning to kiss the rod of God’s correction is a definite proof of being a child of God. Can you get by with willful disobedience? “For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.”

Did you notice the phrase “God’s love”? Just as a loving parent will discipline his child, our Heavenly Father corrects those who are His. Have you ever been corrected by the Father?

5. There is a hunger for the Word of God! (1 Pet 2:2; Heb 5:12; Matt 4:4) – “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”
Hunger is a sign of life. The opposite is true—a lack of hunger indicates a sign of sickness. Which is true about you?

6. There is a desire for others to experience this same feeling—relationship! (Acts 1:8; 2:28; Mark 5) – Remember, each one reach one, and then each one teach one.

7. Living for the glory of the Lord becomes our passion! (1 Cor 10:31) – This is what it all boils down to. Why are we here? What is our purpose? In a nutshell, we are here to GLORIFY the Lord Jesus! How are you doing?

Conclusion: Our Lord Jesus wants you to “know” that you’re saved! Do you know? Can you tell someone else how they can know? Will you go and share this great news with someone who needs assurance?

Love y’all,
