A VERY SPECIAL Gathering for This Thanksgiving

Nov '25

“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted {ῤιζόω, ῥίζω: to cause to strike root, to strengthen with roots; to render firm, to fix, establish, cause a person or a thing to be thoroughly grounded} and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding {left over, have an abundance, abundance, excel, overflowing, surplus therein} with thanksgiving.” (Col. 2:6–7)
Please notice the chronological order:
1. First “Receive” Jesus Christ the Son of God!
2. Secondly, be “Rooted” in the Word of God!
3. Thirdly, “Remember” all of the BLESSINGS of God!
Will this THANKSGIVING be unlike any other? Focus on Relationships, not on stressing over the meal {meatloaf Martha – Luke 10:38–42} Are you going to FILL UP or DRAIN DOWN your THANKSGIVING TANK?? Do you need JESUS to FILL UP your tank… and then will you POUR OUT His BLESSINGS? If you don’t get FILLED UP, then you will DRAIN DRY!!
“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit… Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Eph. 5:18–20)
Change your strategy for this year:
Try (3) ways you should WALK this THANKSGIVING: (3) CHANGES you need to make today!
Try (3) ways you should WALK this THANKSGIVING: (3) CHANGES you need to make today!
1. WALK encouraged by our Lord’s PRESENCE (Col. 2:6–7), and get FILLED UP! (Eph 5:18)
Connect with purpose
– Listen intently instead of doing all the talking
– Try encouraging those around you
Ask the question: What is God’s Will in this gathering?
2. WALK exercising our Lord’s PURPOSE – FILL UP and then POUR OUT! (Col. 2:6–7)
• Rebuild broken relationships
• Fight jealousy
• Refrain from criticism & judgmental spirits
REMEMBER: We are Too STRESSED to be BLESSED!
3. WALK enjoying our Lord’s PEACE – FILL UP and then POUR OUT! (Col. 2:6–7)
Sitting around the THANKSGIVING table will probably be these four kinds of CHRISTIANS:
• Casual Christian
• Seasonal Christian
• Sensational Christian
• Faithful Christian
Lastly, do not FORGET:
THANKSGIVING starts in your HEART! (Col 3:15)
THANKSGIVING flows to your HOME (Col 3:18–19)
THANKSGIVING ends in HEAVEN (Col 3:1–4)
Conclusion: Are you going to FILL UP or DRAIN DOWN your THANKSGIVING TANK?
Make up your mind, yield your heart, call out to JESUS today!
