Conquering Care

Psalm 13:1-6

Introduction: Do you find yourself in a constant struggle with CARE? CARE that escalates into worry. How can you break free from unnecessary anxiety? An exhausted and tired David, asked God four times, “How long?” And yet, he has a breakthrough over the CARE that weighed him down. His discovery was by, FINDING, FIXING, and being FREE from his worry:

1. We need to FIND our worry and PROBLEMS – CARE! (Psa 13:1, 2)
“How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord?….having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?”

• Internal problems (v 1)
[Things we can’t change]
[Things in the past]
[Things in the future]

• External problems (v 2b)

2. We need to FIX our worry PROBLEMS through PRAYER! (Psa 13:3, 4)
“Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.”

• Releasing
• Resolving
• Rededicating
• Retaking

3. We need to be FREE from worry – PROBLEMS with PRAISE! (Psa 13:5, 6)
“But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.”

• Praise God for His Spiritual Breakthroughs (v 5)
• Praise God for His Spiritual Blessings (v 6)

Conclusion: Although we all have daily PROBLEMS, our Lord Jesus blazed a trail before us by OVERCOMING every OBSTACLE we would ever face and by turning them into OPPORTUNITIES to draw closer to our Heavenly Father.
Medical doctors acknowledge that 70% of patients would be cured if they could get rid of WORRY (unnecessary CARE).
Maybe today you (we) need to 1st FIND your CARE, then FIX your CARE thru PRAYER, and ultimately be FREE from worry and CARE.

***Bottom Line***
Peter understood how to “CONQUER CARE” when he wrote, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you,” (1Pet 5:7).
