The Old Paths

Introduction: Natives in a village were gloriously saved. Everyday without fail they walked a path up to a mountain to spend some quiet time with their Lord. It was a daily routine – habit. For almost a year they would walk the well beaten path to take time to pray and read their Bible. And then all of a sudden something happened. They stopped. The weeds began to grow up on the once worn path until all the other villagers could clearly see that the new CHRISTians had neglected their time with Jesus everyday.

How about your “path”? Is it still worn? Do you need to start back? In Jeremiah’s day, his people – the Israelites, had neglected their relationship with the God of the Bible. Consequently, he urges them (and us today) to go back to the “Old Paths”!

1. How God is calling His people to the OLD PATHS! (Jer 6:16)

“16Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.”

Jesus is calling! Answer the phone. His telephone number is Jer 33:3.

2. Sadly, some will not answer Jesus’s call! (Jer 6:16)

“16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein,….. But they said, We will not walk therein.”

We make choices everyday. What choices are you making?

Conclusion: Will you stay on the OLD PATHS? Have you gotten off the OLD PATHS? Can others see the grass growing on the OLD PATHS? Keep walking brothers and sisters on the OLD PATHS!
