Shine the Light

Introduction: Have you noticed that God uses LIGHT! Luke’s gospel reveals how God lit up the sky paving the way for Jesus Christ to be born.
“….And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid” (Luke 2:9).
Consider how our God uses light.
1. Moses wrote (Num 24:17):
“I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel..”
Our Lord lit up the sky with a witness in the form of a star. The star shone the way for the wise men to find Jesus Christ. Are you following the light of the Lord? Instead of darkness, the Spirit of God gives light – illumination. We can walk in the light!
Shine the light!!
2. Jesus said (John 8:12):
“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
Jesus is the light! Let your light shine!!
3. John revealed (1John 1:5):
“This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”
Isn’t that interesting? God is light! Now we know why Satan is called the Prince of darkness.
Conclusion: Did you know there is coming a time when no more light will be needed? The book of Revelation reveals this truth.
“And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof” (Rev 22:23).
Enjoy the light. Come to the light. Shine the light of Jesus!
