Introduction: How can we enjoy THANKSGIVING DAY every day? Really, should it only be celebrated just once a year or on a daily basis? What is the secret to living a life of Thanksgiving? With gladness and joyfulness, while in prison awaiting martyrdom, Paul was inspired by the Holy Ghost to unlock this treasure chest. Simply put, here are two keys.

 

1. GET FILLED UP! (Eph. 5:18) – “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit.”

 

Do not miss the words “be filled”! Actually, this word is in the present tense, meaning go on being filled. In other words, it does not mean once and for all; instead, being filled is a continuous process. Do you need to be filled with God the Holy Spirit? Remember, our Lord only fills those who are emptied of SELF. Does self need to be dethroned? By the way, we cannot fill ourselves.

 

2. GO POUR OUT! (Eph. 5:19, 20) – “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

 

First, there must be a filling. Then, as we are FILLED we can POUR OUT. But not until we get FILLED by the HOLY SPIRIT! Today, unfortunately, some are trying to POUR OUT without being FILLED. It does not work that way! However, after confessing our sins and being transparent with our Lord, then He gives us a SONG to SING. THANKSGIVING is the result! Not only is it a BLESSING to us but it is also a BLESSING to Him. God inhabits the praises of His people.

 

Conclusion: This is the key that unlocks a life of PERPETUAL THANKSGIVING. So now go unlock the door! “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
