Peace for Troubled Hearts

John 14:1-3, 27

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also… Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Introduction: Have you ever been troubled in your heart? Are you troubled with personal problems, medical issues, relational struggles, or spiritual failures right now? What do you do? Our Lord Jesus gave us both the CAUSES, as well as the CURES for Heart Trouble.

1. What are the CAUSES of HEART TROUBLE? (John 14:1)

“Let not your heart be troubled: believe in God, believe also in me.”

   • Emptiness

   • Loneliness

   • Fear of death

   • Stress

   • Rejection

   • Depression

   • Insignificance

   • Insecurity

2. What are the CURES for HEART TROUBLE? (John 14:27)

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

   • PEACE comes by believing in Jesus, who is God (John 14:1)

   • PEACE comes by being prepared to go to heaven (John 14:2, 3)

   • PEACE comes by being prepared for Jesus to come again (John 14:3)

Conclusion: Troubles come knocking on our door all the time! But when we send Jesus to the door, they have to go through Him! While certain circumstances can make our heart feel troubled, PEACE comes by believing in Jesus, by being prepared to go to heaven because of a personal relationship with Him, and finally by waiting for His coming!

Praise the Lord Jesus for being our PEACE!
Love y’all,
