In the Twinkling of an Eye

Introduction: Jesus tells us that He will come in a twinkling of an eye. Are you ready?

What does this mean? What will happen? Where will you be? How soon are we there?

Here are some changes that will take place.

“51Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” (1 Cor 15:51-52)

1. Our bodies will be changed! (1Cor 15:35-38)

“5But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? 36Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: 37And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: 38But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.”

What about a brand new body?

2. Our belongings will be changed! (1Cor 15:55,56)

“O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.”

Death will once and for all be defeated.

3. Our battlefield will be changed! (1Cor 15:58)

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

Four words come to mind:

1. Resist –  “be ye stedfast”

2. Retreat – “unmoveable”

3. Reclaim – “always abounding in the work of the Lord,”

4. Rewards –  “forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

Conclusion: Since all of these changes will take place are you getting ready?
