Gifts from Above

Introduction: How many of you love to get gifts? How many love to give gifts? Well then, check out these “Gifts from Above.”
1. Good Gifts! (James 1:17) – “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”
Notice the two words gift. The first has to do with the act of giving. But the second word gift has to do with the gift itself. God gives His best Gift. JESUS CHRIST is called the UNSPEAKABLE GIFT (2 Cor. 9:15). Therefore, every good gift comes from the Lord. To carry it a step further, every “perfect gift” comes from God.
2. Grace Gifts! (Eph. 2:8) – “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.”
A simple definition of grace is God doing for us what we do not deserve. Needless to say, His GRACE is AMAZING! What a GIFT!! Have you received JESUS CHRIST as God’s GIFT? Will you give God’s GIFT? Think about those who do not have this GIFT. Let’s face it, there are not any earthly GIFTS that compare to God’s GIFT.
3. God’s Gifts! (Rom. 11:29) – “For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.”
The word gift is χάρισμα, which means free gift, favor, and spiritual gift. Notice the word repentance. It is ἀμεταμέλητος (ah-meh-tah-MEH-leh-tos), which means without repentance, or not to be repented of. It can refer to irrevocable, or without regret. So to summarize, God’s favor and calling are unchangeable. That is GOOD NEWS!
Conclusion: So speaking of GIFTS, this includes GOOD GIFTS, GRACE GIFTS, and finally GOD’S GIFTS. All of these are GIFTS FROM ABOVE. Receive them, and then give them!
