Greater is He That is in Me

Introduction: Do you ever feel like you are drowning because of the world? Because of sin? Because of the devil? John writes succinctly and yet profoundly to this issue of CHRISTians being “in” the world but not “of” the world. But you may say, how can we live in this world without letting it creep into our life? If a boat has a hole in the bottom of it, we can expect it will take in water. Is your boat leaking? Does it need patching or repairing? Should we live the rest of our life “bailing” out water from a sinking ship?
1. GREATER is He!
“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”(1John 4:4)
We become stronger because Jesus is GREATER!
The word “greater” is μέγας, μεγάλη, μέγα: (meg’-as), which means large, great, in the widest sense.
Bottom line:
* JESUS is GREATER than all of our troubles!
* JESUS is GREATER than any mind-altering drug!
* JESUS is GREATER than the spirit of Antichrist!
* JESUS is GREATER than our faults and failures!
* JESUS is GREATER than all of our sins!
* JESUS is GREATER than all of our fear!
* JESUS is GREATER than all of our needs!
* JESUS is GREATER than all of our sicknesses!
* JESUS is GREATER than all of our enemies!
* JESUS is GREATER than all of our sorrows!
* JESUS is GREATER than all of our pain!
* JESUS is GREATER than all of our confusion!
* JESUS is GREATER than all of our insecurities!
* JESUS is GREATER than all of our power!
* JESUS is GREATER than death!
* JESUS is GREATER than the grave!
* JESUS is GREATER than all of the angels!
* JESUS is GREATER than the devil!
* JESUS is GREATER than all of creation!
* JESUS is GREATER than every situation!
* JESUS is GREATER than all of man’s knowledge!
* JESUS is GREATER than all!
* JESUS is GREATER than all of our troubles!
* JESUS is GREATER than any mind-altering drug!
* JESUS is GREATER than the spirit of Antichrist!

2. GREATER is He than is in Me (us)!
“… greater is he that is in you.” (1John 4:4)
Therefore,
We need NOT be:
* Afraid
* Worried
* Angry
* Prideful
* Self-righteous
* Purposeless
* Confused
* Deceived
* Bitter
* Unforgiving
* Ungrateful
* Apathetic
* Complacent
* Guilty
We need NOT be:
* Afraid

3. GREATER is He that is in Me than he that is in the world!
“….greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” (1John 4:4)
* Jesus is GREATER than the accusation of the devil!
* Jesus is GREATER than the temptation of the devil!
* Jesus is GREATER than the manipulation of the devil!
* Jesus is GREATER than the temptation of the devil!
* Jesus is GREATER than the manipulation of the devil!
Conclusion: WOW! Remember: JESUS is GREATER! The next time you “get down,” “look up”!
“Because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
