Bad News Turned Into Glad News

Introduction: What do you do when you are hit with “not so good” news? Setbacks? Disappointments? The following steps may be helpful:

Let’s take Job for example:
He would….

1. Pray through it!

“And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.” (Job 42:10)

Notice, it was only after Job prayed for his friends that God turned his situation around. Have you prayed?

2. Ponder (Think) through it!

“Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.” (Job 14:1)

We can expect some troubles and trials in this life. Have you accepted that trials are meant to GROW our FAITH in Jesus? (James 1:2,3)

3. Praise through it!

“5Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.” (Job 13:15)

If we can praise the Lord “through it,” we can get “to it”! Praise is the cousin of Faith.

4. Prepare through it!

“…the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” (Job 1:21)

Every good and perfect gift comes from the Lord!

“17Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” (James 1:17)

Our Lord’s purpose will be established.

5. Persevere through it!

“10But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” (Job 23:10)

Stop and think. God knows what we are going through. He has promised His Grace will be sufficient.

Conclusion: Learning from the book of Job should be very helpful to those of us who are going through troubles and trials.
