Distractions

Introduction: Are you finding yourself being distracted? Do you have a hard time staying focused? With fast speed internet, computers, cell phones and changing technology, our culture is challenged by so many distractions. Life seems a bit more complicated these days – say more than twenty, thirty, forty years ago. Do you agree?
So how can we keep from being so distracted?

1. Martha was temporarily distracted!

“Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house…. 40But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:” (Luke 10:38-41)

Sometimes we get so busy about serving the Lord, we can lose focus of the main thing! Has that ever happened to you?

2. Martha got back on track from being distracted only after she took Jesus’ counsel – advice!

“But one thing is needful.” (Luke 10:42)

Listening to Jesus helps get us back on track. What is He saying about you and me?

Conclusion: Do we need to listen to Jesus? What does He see with our life? What does He think about our focus? If we listen to Jesus like Martha did, it will keep us from distraction. Try to stay focused on God’s will for your life!
