Ingredients to Discovering the Will of God

Introduction: How do you know the Will of God? This devotion is including factors to consider when you do not know the Will of God. Can we know the Will of God? But how do we go about finding it?
Here are (3) main ingredients to apply when you are trying to determine God’s Will in a certain situation:
1. Following the Word of God!
“105Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psa 119:105)
The Bible would never contradict itself! Therefore, our challenge is to be familiar with all of Scripture. Otherwise, we can step out of the Will of God.
How well do you know the principles and precepts of the Word of God?
2. Being led by the Spirit of God!
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” (Rom 8:14)
God the Holy Spirit will guide us if we will let Him. Learning to be led by the Spirit is a lifelong process.
Note: The Holy Spirit of God would never contradict the Word of God.
3. Understanding the Will of God!
“39And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him. 40And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. 41And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, 42Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. 43And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. 44And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” (Luke 22:39-44)
God the Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, was obedient unto His mission. He proved this, while submitting to His Father’s will. The Father’s will would never contradict the Word of God or the Spirit of God. Therefore, when we clear those two things on our checklist we can have confidence that we are in the Will of God.
Conclusion: Finding the Will of God is not always easy. However, by knowing the Word of God, and being led by the Spirit of God, and in addition, by submitting to the Will of God, we can be assured of finding and following the Will of God.
