Introduction: What about these moms who will not back down but will bow down? How about you? See if you fit in this overcoming category.
1. Moms who will not back down when it comes to forgiving others! (Gen 4:1–8) – “And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. And she again bare his brother Abel… And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.”
Can any mother relate to having to forgive over and over again? Miss Eve and a host of other Mamas have had to cross this bridge. Have you? For a moment, imagine how Eve felt. Do you think the devil was whispering in her ear that God could not be trusted? Is the dirty devil tempting you right now?
Apparently, it appears that Eve bowed down to the God of the Bible instead of Satanic lies. She moved on, even though she must have been hurting terribly. Will you move on?
2. Moms who will not back down, but will bow down when it comes to spiritual warfare! (Matt 15:21–25) – “When Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil… he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.”
What do you think about this mother’s faith? She did not “back down” but she did “bow down”! Even Jesus was amazed! How is your faith?
Conclusion: “And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.” (Matt 15:27–28)
Great faith in Jesus impresses Him! Speaking of faith, there is “No faith, little faith, much faith, and great faith”! What would Jesus say about our faith? Remember, do not “back down” but rather “bow down”!
