Marriage in Heaven

Introduction: There is a MARRIAGE in the making! We the Church are the bride of Christ. When the Bridegroom returns for His bride (the Church), we will be “caught up” together with Him in the clouds (1Thess 4:16,17). Next, we will be married to our BRIDEGROOM. Check out what John was inspired to write concerning this heavenly union.

1. Time to get READY! (Rev 19:7)

“7Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.”

This is a heavenly scene. Finally the bride (the Church) is joined to her GROOM. Paul writes to the Ephesian believers:
(Eph 5:25-27)

“25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”

As the bride of Christ right now, we must be watching and waiting for His return. Jesus said,

“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”(John 14:2,3)

Jesus Christ has gone back to the Father’s house to prepare a place for His bride. Therefore, we must be watching and waiting for His return at any moment. Are you ready?

2. Time to get our clothing (wedding dress) ready! (Rev 19:8)

“8And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.”

“The righteous of the saints” can be translated the righteous acts of the saints.

Conclusion: Since the appearing of our Lord (Bridegroom) could happen at any moment, we must be looking in, looking out, and lastly looking up! Are you looking?
