Remember

Introduction: Our Lord blesses us with good memories! The devil wants us to remember the bad things, but Solomon writes,

“The memory of the just is blessed.” (Prov 10:7)

I love that verse. I shared that verse with my dad shortly before he went to be with Jesus. It’s special.

Do you REMEMBER the goodness of God?
Has Jesus been good to you?
Do you REMEMBER to give thanks?

Do we Love the Lord Jesus….because He first loved us?

Do you REMEMBER fun times together with your family? Happy Memories!
Think on these things. Paul writes,

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Phil 4:8)

What should we REMEMBER this Memorial Day?

1. Remember the fallen soldiers who fought for our freedom!

“13Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13)

Jesus defined this as GREAT LOVE. GREAT LOVE GIVES….it is willing to SACRIFICE.
Are we willing to SACRIFICE?
What are you willing to GIVE?

2. Remember the Lord Jesus Christ who fought for our freedom and won the battle over death, hell, sin and the grave!

“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.” (Heb 2:14)

No one else was qualified to take away our sins but Jesus. This is true because He was sinless.

3. Remember the fallen CHRISTian soldiers who are fighting for our CHRISTian freedom!

“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.” (2 Tim 2:3-4)

Many believers have been martyred because of their faith in Jesus Christ.

Down through the centuries the blood is said to flow knee-deep from those who refused to deny our Risen Lord and Coming Bridegroom, and consequently died for their faith. How can we casually serve the One who gave His all to set us FREE?

In the KINGDOM, otherwise called the millennium, the martyred tribulation saints will be resurrected to rule and reign with Christ. (Rev 20:1-6)

4. Remember our law enforcement and public servants who are fighting for our freedom!

“For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 4For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.” (Rom 13:3-4)

Far too often, they are underpaid, and yet willing to defend our families from harm. Please be sure to verbally let them know how much you appreciate them.

5. Remember our Church “servant leaders” who are fighting for our freedom!

“All my state shall Tychicus declare unto you, who is a beloved brother, and a faithful minister and fellowservant in the Lord: 8Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that he might know your estate, and comfort your hearts; 9With Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They shall make known unto you all things which are done here….

“10Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you, and Marcus, sister’s son to Barnabas, (touching whom ye received commandments: if he come unto you, receive him;) 11And Jesus, which is called Justus, who are of the circumcision. These only are my fellowworkers unto the kingdom of God, which have been a comfort unto me. 12Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. 13For I bear him record, that he hath a great zeal for you, and them that are in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis. 14Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you. 15Salute the brethren which are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church which is in his house.” (Col 4:7-15)

These are special heroes to me! They are the ones who are “Holding the line”! Because of their faithfulness, the work of the Lord is carried out with excellence in our communities, cities, state, nation, and the world. Many of them have GRADUATED to heaven! They have been promoted.

Conclusion: Stop and take a minute to reflect and REMEMBER The Great LOVE of Jesus and His ultimate sacrifice. Also, REMEMBER the price that was paid for our freedom here in America. Yes. There is a reason to be concerned for the direction our country is going. But at the same time, do not forget to thank God for our Blessings!
