1. REMEMBER – Jesus Christ has set us FREE from SIN’S PENALTY!

Paul writes,

“23For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Rom 6:23)

The word “wages” is ὀψώνιον, (op-so’-nee-on), which means pay, wages, salary, reward.

John writes in the book of Revelation these words concerning the future judgement-called the GREAT WHITE THRONE:

“And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Rev 20:11-15)

Now to the GOOD NEWS:

“but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Other verses in Scripture verify this GOOD NEWS:

“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” (1 Cor 5:21)

“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” (1 Cor 15:3-4)

2. REMEMBER – Jesus has set us FREE from SIN’S POWER!

“2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Rom 8:2-4)

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)

3. REMEMBER – Jesus will set us FREE one glorious day from the PRESENCE of SIN!

“And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. 23And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. 24And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. 25And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. 26And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. 27And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” (Rev 21:22-27)
