Honesty is the Best Policy

Introduction: Did you realize that God hates lying? Are you honest? Or deceptive? Sneaky? Untruthful?
Solomon writes,

16″These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.”

The CHARACTER trait of INTEGRITY is valuable to our Lord.

The word “integrity” means being honest and having strong moral principles.

1. Honesty is rewarded! (Prov 20:7)

“7The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.”

The word “integrity” here is : תֹּם: (tome), which means completeness, integrity, also part of the high priest’s breastplate.

In a world that operates under the influence of DARKNESS with the Prince of DARKNESS, one must be SPIRIT-FILLED and EMPOWERED to live a life of INTEGRITY.

2. Dishonesty will be Punished! (Rev 21:8)

“8But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

God will sift out the right from the wrong one day. It is better to “turn around” today instead of face the consequences of sin tomorrow. Jesus bore our sins on the cross and is willing to forgive us if we put our FAITH & TRUST in Him and not ourselves!

Conclusion: Daily choices determine if we are going to live with INTEGRITY. Without JESUS CHRIST, it is impossible to live consistently because of our SELF-CENTERED makeup….even the most MORALLY upright still are controlled to a certain degree by the devil. But JESUS is not only the WAY…HE is the TRUTH! “Grace and truth” came through Him.
