Prayers for Laborers To Reap the Harvest

Introduction: What can we do about people who are lost without a shepherd? Are you concerned for lost souls? What are you doing to reach out to them?

Please take note of the heart of our Lord Jesus Christ toward the lost. He knew that He was on a MISSION. He fulfilled His MISSION with COMPASSION. And finally, He urged others to PRAY with PASSION.
Why not follow His instruction?

1. Jesus did all that He could to fulfill His MISSION on earth! (Matt 9:35)

“And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.”

Have you noticed that people are hurting all around us? Some are hurting spiritually…dead in trespasses and sin, blinded by the god of this world, and held captive by the chains of guilt and shame. Others are hurting emotionally from scars and hurts from the past…..unresolved conflicts in the present, and battling with bitterness and anger on a daily basis.
People need to be set FREE! Jesus can deliver them from strongholds of addictions. There is no demon that He cannot cast out; no storm that He cannot calm; and there is no giant that He cannot kill; and finally no hurt that He cannot HEAL!

2. Jesus did all that He could to fulfill His MISSION on earth with a yearning COMPASSION! (Matt 9:36)

“36But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.”

The word “compassion” is σπλαγχνίζομαι, (splangkh-nid’-zom-ahee), which means to be moved in the inward parts, have pity on….

Jesus had COMPASSION. Do you? Have our hearts become hardened because of all the BAD NEWS; i.e. economical, political, and even religious apostasy in the world?

The word fainted is σκύλλω: skulló (skool’-lo), which means I flay, trouble, annoy, vex. Those who are without Christ today are troubled inwardly, vexed mentally, and under condemnation spiritually. Does anybody care?

3. Jesus did all that He could to fulfill His MISSION on earth with a yearning COMPASSION while instructing His followers to PRAY with PASSION! (Matt 9:37)

“37Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”

Check out this ORDER:
1. PRAY
2. PRAY for laborers
3. PRAY for laborers to be sent into the harvest fields

Will you PRAY?
Will you GO?

Conclusion: Are you fulfilling your MISSION? Are you demonstrating COMPASSION? Are you PRAYING for laborers to reap the “Harvest Fields”? What a great difference we could make if we will PRAY and then GO for the GLORY of our Lord!

Love y’all,
Dr. Randy Reese
