Abundantly Blessed when Overly Stressed

Introduction: Feel stressed? Why? Are our problems out of the reach of our God? What should we do? The Psalm we are reading today is full of hope and blessing. Most interpret this chapter during the days of good King Hezekiah while he was surrounded by the enemy who was threatening to invade. The Lord was his helper and strength! Share this with someone you love. It will bless them.

1. When you feel stressed we have a Place of SAFETY in Jesus! (Psa 46:1)

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

The picture is a raging fire ravaging a forest while all the animals are running for SAFETY! Do your problems sometime seem to be closing in on you? There is a refuge! Run to Jesus!!

2. When you feel stressed we have a Place of SAFETY in Jesus even though we live in a world of UNCERTAINTY! (Psa 46:2,3)

“Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.”

At the blink of an eye, things change in this world. Wars and rumors of wars, pestilences, natural disasters, family setbacks, financial woes, and the list goes on. But in the middle of all the chaos, Jesus is there! He knows our name, our pain, and our frame. Trust Him today!!

3. When you feel stressed we have a Place of SAFETY in Jesus even though we live in a world of UNCERTAINTY because of God’s SOVEREIGNTY! (Psa 46:4,5)

“There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. 5God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.”

While in the one hand things look like they are unraveling, in all actuality they are going according to our Lord’s plan. He is in CONTROL! Therefore, we can safely and confidently put our life in His hands. Will you, at this moment, experience His PEACE and JOY that passes all understanding.

Conclusion: Did you catch the key points?
* Jesus is our SAFETY
* Even though in this world there is UNCERTAINTY
* All because of God’s SOVEREIGNTY

Does this bring PEACE to your heart? Stop and meditate on these truths. Yes we face stress. But truthfully, we are abundantly BLESSED!
