Getting Used to Dark – Keep the Light On

Introduction: Have you gotten used to the dark? That is exactly what Satan wants us to do as Bible-believing CHRISTians! Please note: it does not happen overnight. Rather, it is a gradual slipping. Do you remember Samson? He did not even know his power and strength had left him. Why? Because he got his hair cut in the devil’s barber shop! What about backslidden Lot? His waywardness turned into his wilderness, which resulted in his worldliness. However, do not forget that his “LITTLE COMPROMISES led to BIG CONSEQUENCES”!
By the way, his compromises not only affected him, but the rippling effect—like a tsunami—hit his family as well.
Warning: We are not on a deserted island all alone. Instead, we all have family and friends that are not only listening and watching, but also influenced by our life. Resorting to an “I do not care” attitude will be sure to be one major stumbling block to those around us. Do you care?
So how can we keep from “Getting Used to the Dark – And Keeping the Light On”?
Several ways:
1. Keep the LIGHT On! (John 8:12; John 3:17–19; 1 John 1:7)
Jesus is the light! Paul wrote to the Roman CHRISTIANS, “Put on the Lord Jesus and make not provision for the flesh” (Rom. 13:11). And again, to the Thessalonica CHRISTians, that they were to walk in the light because they were children of light (1 Thess. 5:1–9). Actually, Jesus made mention that we—as we trust in Him—are the “light of the world” (Matt. 5:16). Therefore, we are to let our light shine to help those wandering aimlessly in the darkness to have some direction in their life. Are you shining the light?
2. Men love darkness rather than light! (John 3:17–19)
But if they only knew! Perhaps after you turn the light on, they may see. Look. It is not up to us to make them see—it is up to the Holy Spirit. He is the One that illumines. He is the One that opens their eyes. He is the One that quickens their heart. But we have the privilege of turning on the light!
Conclusion: Do you know anyone that needs some light? Do you need some light? Really, we all need light in order to see—to navigate through this life for the glory of our Lord!
Turn the light on!
Love y’all,
Dr. Randy Reese
