Fulfilling Your Mission in 2022

Introduction: Do you know what is your MISSION for 2022? Jesus Christ has fulfilled His MISSION. Listen carefully. While this Pastor does not make New Year’s RESOLUTIONS, it was interesting to read the following:

Guess what were the top (4) New Year’s RESOLUTIONS for 2022?

  1. Exercising more. (By the way, that does not mean exercising by lifting your fork to your mouth!)
  2. Losing weight. (One man said he had a goal of losing 15 lbs…then he shouted, “I have 20 more to GO”!!) (The following is a is a True story: a dear lady gave this Pastor an Avon spoon with a BIG HOLE in the middle of it, and said, ”Try this Pastor, it works!”)
  3. Saving money/getting out of debt. (“I owe, I owe, so off to work I go!”)
  4. Reducing your stress level. (Suggestion: PRAYER WORKS, if you WORK IT!)

Will you take these (3) NEW YEAR CHALLENGES in order to fulfill your MISSION? In John 17, otherwise known as the Golden Prayer, Jesus prays for Himself, His disciples, and for all believers while fulfilling His mission on earth.

1. Will you SPEAK OUT about the true and living God and be led by the Spirit of God?  “I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. 7Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.”  (John 17:6,7)

Do you know who is the richest man in the world as of 2022? Elon Musk. He is an entrepreneur who is worth 296 billion dollars…that’s a B! BILLION!! (Not sure if he is a CHRISTian – do not know a lot about him.) However, after hearing him being questioned in an interview on YOUTUBE by some CHRISTians about his faith in Jesus, he responded by mentioning the “teachings of Jesus, the miracles of Jesus, and the life of Jesus.” But he stopped short of His sacrificial death, burial and glorious resurrection from the grave. Please understand that it is not the teachings – miracles – or life of Christ that FORGIVES sin, instead, it is the blood of JESUS that REDEEMS (to purchase to go free), JUSTIFIES (to pronounce righteous), and CLEANSES from all sin (Ephesians 1:7; Romans 5:9; 1 John 1:7). Do you know someone today that is not a believer in the God of the Bible? Why not pray for them right now? Then, go talk with them.

2. Will you “GIVE OUT” the WORD of God? “For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.” (John 17:8)

We can give out the Word of God by both our WALK and TALK. One way is by turning our “OBSTACLES into OPPORTUNITIES.” Another way is by turning our “TEST of FAITH into TESTIMONIES of FAITH”! Will you take this challenge to give out the Word of God? Think about WHERE you can give out the Word of God, and WHO you can give out the Word of God, and lastly HOW you can give out the Word of God.

3. Will you “REACH OUT” with the LOVE of God? “And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.” (John 17:26)

Can you take the Bible and lead someone to Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit? One method: Understand all are sinners (Romans 3:23); understand there is a penalty for sin (Romans 6:23); understand Jesus paid the penalty (Romans 5:8); and understand one must repent and receive the gift of God, Jesus Christ (Luke 13:3; John 1:12; Romans 10:9, 10, etc.)
The Great Commission is still the marching orders of the Church today (Matt 28:18-20).

Conclusion: From eternity past, it was decided that God the Son would go on a MISSION to the earth to be born as the God-man….to be crucified on a cross, to be raised from the dead, and to promise to COME again. Jesus finished His MISSION on earth.

Yet, now we are waiting for His soon return in what is called the rapture of the Church. We are referred to in the Bible as the bride of Christ. The Bridegroom has gone to prepare a place for us. But Jesus will come back for His bride (Church) some sweet day to take us to His Father’s house (John 14:1-3; Ephesians 5:25). Oh what a marriage that will be after we appear before the JUDGMENT SEAT of Christ! There CHRISTians will either be rewarded or suffer loss of rewards although still get to go to heaven. (Please do not confuse the Great Throne Judgement – for the lost, Revelation 20:11-15, with the Judgement Seat of Christ for believers – 2 Corinthians 5:10.)

Jesus has given us a MISSION in 2022. If we are going to fulfill our heavenly MISSION in 2022 as believers in Jesus Christ, then we must take the CHALLENGE: SPEAK OUT, GIVE OUT, and REACH OUT with the love of Christ before it is eternally too late.

Will you purpose in your heart to fulfill your MISSION in 2022?

Preparing For Battles in 2022

Introduction: Are you in any battles right now? You will be before the year is over! We all face battles. After being born again in Jesus Christ, we face battles against sin, self and Satan. Prior to being regenerated, we fall prey to the enemy. But after the power of the Holy Ghost changes us, He empowers us. Facing the last battle of death, Paul writes to his son in the Lord Timothy.

1. Your TESTIMONY in Jesus is worth fighting for!

“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom.” (2Tim 4:1,2)

Your testimony is what Jesus is making out of your life, and what others see and know of your life.

2. Your Family in Jesus is worth fighting for!

“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom.” (2Tim 4:1,2)

Do you have any spiritual sons on the Lord? Pray now. Reach out now.

3. Your Legacy in Jesus is worth fighting for!

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” (2Tim 4:7,8)

People are going to remember us when we are gone. “Gone but not forgotten”

Jesus will come again and take us to our new heavenly home. Are you preparing?

Conclusion: Paul speaks into Timothy’s life.

“3Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.” (2Tim 2:3)

Battles in 2022 are ahead.
Let’s toughen up soldiers!

Preparing For the Life Hereafter

Introduction: Have you considered the benefits of the life hereafter? Take a moment and compare them with this life. What did you discover? This verse, although sandwiched during the time of tribulation, it gives us full confidence that there are going to be heavenly benefits “Out of this World”!

Check out the benefits:

1. A Place of REST!

“13And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” (Rev 14:13)

The word rest “ἀναπαύω (an-ap-ow’-o), means to give intermission from labor, by implication refresh. Sounds good.
Also, it means rest, take my ease. Of course this does not mean inactivity. Instead, it means worship and service to our Lord Jesus Christ.

2. A Place where we are BLESSED!

“13And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” (Rev 14:13)

The word “Blessed” is μακάριος,(mak-ar’-ee-os), which means happy, blessed, to be envied. “Everybody will be HAPPY over there”!

3. A Place with no more TEST!

“13And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” (Rev 14:13)

No more tests. No more test of faith…we will have made it HOME! “HOME SWEET HOME!”

Conclusion:
Obviously this gives us, who are believers in the living God of the Bible, great…
HOPE
PEACE
ASSURANCE &
REST

So take heart my brother & sister…the BEST is yet to come!

An Attitude Adjustment For the New Year

Introduction: I need an Attitude Adjustment (AA) sometimes! Do you? Maybe you need one now. Anyway, as we cooperate with our Lord Jesus, He empowers us to make the ADJUSTMENT. One of the best ways to make the AA, is through our mindset. Paul who was led by the Holy Spirit wrote to the Church of Philippi while in prison. Check the list to see if you need an AA.

1. The Battle is fought and won in the Mind!

“8Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Phil 4:8)

Bottom line: If we think on Jesus, here is the result. Choices. Decisions. Think on the Word of God.

2. Solomon pinpointed the problem!

“7For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.” (Prov 23:7)

Despite what we are told, we are not what we eat, instead we are what we think.

What thoughts are running through your mind these days?
Thoughts of fear?
Thoughts of joy?
Thoughts of peace?
Thoughts of trouble?
Thoughts of anger?
Thoughts of contentment?

Conclusion: As we think the thoughts of Jesus, we can have the mind of Christ.

“5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” (Phil 2:5)

We indeed can take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.

“3For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” (2Cor 10:3-5)

Spiritual, Mental and Physical Health For the New Year

Introduction: Are you praying for good health in the coming year…mentally, physically, and spiritually? Certainly, this can be a NEW YEAR’S prayer. Is it biblical? John writes in the third epistle these words:

“2Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul” (3 John 2)

1. Praying for a Prosperous Year for you! (3 John 2)

The word for “prosper” is εὐοδόω: (yoo-od-o’-o), which means cause to prosper, pass: I have a happy (successful) journey.

As your Pastor and friend, I’m praying for you to have a “blessed year” prosperous!

2. Praying for your health!

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” (3 John 2)

The word for “health” is ὑγιαίνω (hoog-ee-ah’-ee-no), which means I am well, am in good health; I am right, reasonable, sound, pure, uncorrupted.

3. Praying for your soul to prosper! (3John 2)

The word for “soul” is ψυχή, ῆς, (psoo-khay), which means breath, the soul as the seat of affections and will, a human person, an individual.

Our will and emotions are a part of the soul. Praying for a healthy soul.

Conclusion: Will you make this a matter of prayer as well? If so, we will see a blessed new year.

Love y’all,
Dr. Randy Reese

Grace For the New Year

Introduction: What about God’s GRACE? Isn’t it absolute Amazing? D.L. Moody, the great evangelist, once said, “The CHRISTian life is all of God’s GRACE, from ROOT to FRUIT”! Stop & think about God’s Grace. Stop & THANK Jesus for Him not doing to us what we deserve! Instead THANK Him for His GRACE.

1. God’s GRACE is AMAZING!

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Eph 2:8,9)

Have you trusted in the GRACE of God to forgive your sin?

2. God’s GRACE is AVAILABLE!

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men.” (Titus 2:11)

According to Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, our Lord makes His GRACE available to all.

3. God’s GRACE is ABOUNDING!

“But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.” (Rom 5:20)

Sin pulls us down in a pool of shame and guilt. But God’s GRACE lifts us up out of it!

Conclusion: One last thought. God’s GRACE is SUFFICIENT!

“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.” (2Cor 12:9-11)

New GRACE for the New Year!

Wisdom For the New Year

Introduction: Decisions, insight, choices will be needed in the New Year, 2022. Therefore, it is imperative that we get it from the right source, namely from the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word.

1. Spiritual WISDOM is needed because it is LACKING in this world!

“5If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” (James 1:5)

Wisdom is seeing and knowing things from God’s perspective. Needless to say, we all need it! How about you?

2. Spiritual WISDOM is needed because it is LACKING in this world but only comes through the Vehicle of FAITH!

“But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.” (James 1:6)

Faith is the vehicle that rolls to our Father’s throne of Grace. Are you going to exercise faith?

3. Spiritual WISDOM is needed because it is LACKING in this world but only comes through the vehicle of FAITH from an UNDIVIDED mind & heart!

“For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:7,8)

The word “double minded” is δίψυχος: (dip’-soo-khos): which means of two minds, double-minded, wavering. If our mind is divided, then we cannot think clearly nor pray intentionally.

Conclusion: WISDOM is ours for the ASKING and TRUSTING. Will you ask? Will you trust? Clear out your mind. Unclutter your heart. Commit to Jesus today.

Dr. Randy Reese

Courage for the New Year

Introduction: To do exploits this year for the GLORY of our Lord is going to take COURAGE! Do you agree? Are you on the brink of your Jordan River? Do you need to cross over to the other side? What about the enemies? Is there room for failure?

Take COURAGE in (& from, & by) the Lord Jesus!

1. Take COURAGE!

“9Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” (Jos 1:9)

When tasks seem insurmountable, Take COURAGE! Our Lord reminds us to be STRONG in Him!!

2. Take COURAGE because of the UNKNOWN!

“4Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore.” (Jos 3:4)

When things seem to be unknown, i.e. future, it can strike uncertainty and instability in our hearts.  It is during those times that Jesus reminds those who are His to take COURAGE.

3. Take COURAGE and do not be AFRAID!

“….be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed:” (Jos 1:9)

The word “dismayed” חָתַת: (khaw-thath’) means to be shattered or dismayed.

Fear is not in Jesus vocabulary.

4. Take COURAGE and do not be AFRAID because our Lord will be with us!

“for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” (Jos 1:9)

Knowing this great PROMISE should enable every believer in Jesus Christ to take COURAGE.

Conclusion: COURAGE comes from JESUS! He faced DEATH and OVERCAME! Consequently, He imparts to us His Holy Spirit to make us MORE than CONQUERORS.

So Take COURAGE.

Dr. Randy Reese

Where Are You Going in 2022?

Introduction: Where are you at right now in your life? Where have you been? Where are you going?

In the second book of the law called Deuteronomy, Moses reminds Israel where they have been, where they are at, and where they are going. Remember, this would have been the younger crowd that did not die wandering in the wilderness because of their unbelief.

We like Israel need to be reminded what our Lord has in store for us in the coming days.

1. Look Back at WHERE you’ve been!

“But your eyes have seen all the great acts of the LORD which he did.” (Deut 11:7)

2. Look Out for WHERE you are at!

“And know ye this day: for I speak not with your children which have not known, and which have not seen the chastisement of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched out arm, 3And his miracles, and his acts, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and unto all his land; 4And what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how the LORD hath destroyed them unto this day; 5And what he did unto you in the wilderness, until ye came into this place.” (Deut 11:1-6)

3. Look Up at WHERE you are going!

“Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it; 9And that ye may prolong your days in the land, which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land that floweth with milk and honey. 10For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs: 11But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven: 12A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.” (Deut 11:8-12)

Conclusion:
* Much more fruit!
* More victories
* More ground to take
* More promises to believe
* More provisions to come
* More faith to achieve
* More grace for the race
* More breakthroughs
* More blessings
* More answered prayers
* More vision for your future
* More purpose for living
* More power to overcome
* More love to accept
* More forgiveness to extend
* More strength for the journey

A New Year Focus

Introduction: How will the year 2022 be? What can we expect? How can we be sure to fulfill God’s will in 2022? Are there key elements to experiencing our purpose for living? Check out this brief devotion that highlights what this Pastor believes will be the key… see if you agree.

1. Look to Jesus!

“1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Heb 12:2)

Where is your focus? Does it need adjusting?

2. Run the Race!

“24Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 25And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 26I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: 27But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” (1Cor 9:24-27)

Are you in the race?

3. Overcome Temptation!

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” (1Cor 10:13)

Where are you being tempted?

4. Intercede in Prayer!

“18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.” (Eph 6:18)

Do you set aside daily prayer time?

5. Fight the Good Fight of Faith!

“12Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” (1Tim 6:12)

Are you getting tired?

6. Watch for Jesus to come again!

“13Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.” (Titus 2:13)

Keep looking up!

7. Love and Serve Jesus and others!

“37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment. 39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” (Matt 22:37-39)

Loving Jesus may be easier than loving our neighbor.

Conclusion: If in this new year 2022, we have the right Focus, the right Run, the right Plan, the right Prayer power, the right Fight, the right Watch, the right Love, then we can expect to fulfill the right Purpose for being here in 2022. Wait and see.
