Some THINGS AI Cannot DENY

Introduction: Technology is booming! AI is racing out of control. Has man created a monster? Is the devil, through the Antichrist, going to seize the humanoid computer capability?

AI may have its merits, but REMEMBER, JESUS CHRIST is far superior to AI!

1. AI perhaps is going in the direction of a MAN-MADE way of trying to become God. While made with human “fallen” flesh and integrated with silicon microchips, it is nothing more than a MAN-MADE machine, regardless of it being able to think, feel, or speak. (John 1:14) Compare for a moment the Son of God becoming a man without sin, supernaturally made—100% God.

2. AI is developing the capacity to save human lives through diagnosis and surgical procedures. But only Jesus can save from sin and give eternal life! (John 10:27–28)

3. AI did not come to save sinners, but Jesus Christ did! (Luke 19:10)

4. AI is not from eternity past; Jesus Christ is from eternity past! (Hebrews 13:8)

5. AI did not speak into existence the universe, but Jesus Christ did! (Genesis 1:1; Colossians 1:16)

6. AI did not prepare heaven for us, but Jesus Christ did! (John 14:1–3)

Conclusion: There we have it. The case is made. Jesus is superior to AI. This is something AI cannot deny!

Confession and Intercession

Introduction: Do you confess your sins regularly—sometimes daily? In order to stay in fellowship—at one, in good communication with our Savior Jesus Christ—then, according to John the apostle, we must acknowledge our sins of omission as well as our sins of commission.

That is meant to mean: (commission) the sins we commit that we shouldn’t, and (omission) the things we don’t do but should. In other words, James writes under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit: “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”

When we know to do good and do not do it, it is sin—plain and simple! These biblical truths apply after a person has been saved.

There are several things to remember when we talk about this subject—namely walking with our Lord and living a life that is pleasing to Him. Are you? For the sake of time and space, we will go into more detail on the last point to ponder.

1. Our God has made provisions for His children to stay in communion (fellowship) with Him! (1 John 2:1)

2. We have daily decisions that determine our devotion to our Lord! (1 John 1:9)

3. With healing, help, and hope, as believers in Jesus Christ, we can live pure and productive lives for His glory! (James 5:16) – “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

The word CONFESS here means to acknowledge. Do you acknowledge—admit—your wrongdoing? By the way, check out the next word, FAULTS. It is the word hamartia, which in this context means “some particular evil deed or offense.”

One Christian scholar wrote this concerning the word faults: “An offense of such gravity that a Christian lapses from the state of ζωή received from Christ into the state of θάνατος in which he was before he became united to Christ by faith.”

The truth is, we all have FAULTS! Look at the next word—HEALED. It means both cure and restore. Do you need to be physically or spiritually cured or restored?

And lastly, consider the power of prayer. This describes a Christian who is in tune with the Holy Spirit; and subsequently, his or her prayers have a lot of strength! Do your prayers have much power?

Conclusion: Now that we’ve seen the joining together of confession and intercession, what do you think? What would God have you to do? Follow through.

Ashamed of Jesus

Introduction: Has there ever been a time when you were intimidated with fear and insecurity and subsequently did not witness? Probably all of us have been put in situations—perhaps as a younger Christian, in an argument with family members, or just plain out in public—when caught off guard. Even impetuous, big, and burly Peter struck out with three strikes as he denied knowing Jesus.

So it may have already happened, or it will happen in the future. What do you do? First, consider the Scriptural references concerning this matter.

1. Ashamed of Jesus with intimidation? (Rom 10:11) – “For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”

The word ashamed is καταισχύνω, which means to confound, dishonour, or to make ashamed, blush, etc. It also has to do with “to shame down,” i.e., to disgrace. Truthfully, when you are around other people, do you get intimidated?

2. Ashamed of Jesus is a contradiction? (Rom 1:16) – “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

Once you’ve been saved—changed—you then have the power to overcome fear and rejection. Trust Jesus to be your power source in living the Christian life and witnessing to others who are not Christians.

3. Ashamed of Jesus suffering affliction! (1Pet 4:16) – “Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.”

Have you ever suffered persecution? For all of us, it was probably minor compared to the disciples as well as other Christians in third-world countries. By the way, Jesus said that we would suffer! Expect it!! Endure it!!!

4. Ashamed of Jesus in the revelation! (1John 2:28) – “And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.”

Imagine stepping out of or living outside of the Will of God when Jesus appears. Terrible! Talk about shame!! We never know when He will appear. Stay prepared.

Conclusion: Remember, Jesus Christ says that if we are ashamed of Him, then He will be ashamed of us. Here is the acid test: “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven” (Matt 10:32–33).

Do not be ashamed! After all, Jesus is coming, so get prepared. Do not be ashamed!!

Blessed Assurance

Introduction: Can you know that you are saved? But how can you have a “know-so salvation”? Perhaps you are struggling with doubts or lack of assurance? Just last night, in a conversation with someone, this subject came up. Please read the following: And if for any reason you still have doubts, then call someone—a Christian—and let them lead you through the Scriptures.

Here’s how this writer has a “know-so salvation”:

1. Being there when it happened! (Rom 10:9-10) – “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

Listen to this promise: “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Rom 10:13)

One little boy was asked about being saved. He said that he and Jesus did it. This sounded confusing. When asked what he meant, he replied, “I did the asking, and Jesus did the saving!”

When speaking of conversion, keep in mind that it includes both repentance {turning from} and trusting {turning to}. That is turning from leaving Jesus out of your life and turning to and trusting in the blood of Jesus Christ.

2. There has been a drastic change since calling upon Jesus for forgiveness! (2 Cor 5:17) – Jesus changes our “want to’s”! We do not “want to” dishonor Him anymore. We do, however, “want to” please Him! In other words, we have come under “New Management”!

3. We have God’s love letter—signed, sealed, and delivered. (1 John 5:11-13) – “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

Right here is God the Father’s signature! Are you going to believe Him?

4. Signs of chastisement {spankings} have occurred when repetitive disobedience happens! (Heb 12:5-11) – “My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him…..”

Learning to kiss the rod of God’s correction is a definite proof of being a child of God. Can you get by with willful disobedience? “For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.”

Did you notice the phrase “God’s love”? Just as a loving parent will discipline his child, our Heavenly Father corrects those who are His. Have you ever been corrected by the Father?

5. There is a hunger for the Word of God! (1 Pet 2:2; Heb 5:12; Matt 4:4) – “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”
Hunger is a sign of life. The opposite is true—a lack of hunger indicates a sign of sickness. Which is true about you?

6. There is a desire for others to experience this same feeling—relationship! (Acts 1:8; 2:28; Mark 5) – Remember, each one reach one, and then each one teach one.

7. Living for the glory of the Lord becomes our passion! (1 Cor 10:31) – This is what it all boils down to. Why are we here? What is our purpose? In a nutshell, we are here to GLORIFY the Lord Jesus! How are you doing?

Conclusion: Our Lord Jesus wants you to “know” that you’re saved! Do you know? Can you tell someone else how they can know? Will you go and share this great news with someone who needs assurance?

Love y’all,
Dr. Randy Reese

I Have Decided to Follow Jesus

Introduction: Have you made up your mind? Are you going to follow Jesus? Look at what you will gain. Look at what you will lose. Does it make a difference? Will the God of the Bible use your influence? Let’s see an example of how this works.

Paul’s in prison. He has helped establish a Church. Watch how the Lord used both Paul and the Church. Will you apply the principle?

1. First, comes the ROOT by SETTING the EXAMPLE – CHRISTIAN INFLUENCE! (Phil 4:9) – “Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.”

Interesting to note, all of these verbs—“learned, received, heard, and seen”—are in the aorist tense, meaning a past event. In other words, the CHRISTians in the Church of Philippi witnessed the INFLUENCE of the man of God, Paul.

Think about the INFLUENCE you are having on those around you. Here are at least two areas where God is using your INFLUENCE:

In your Family: Both Dad’s and Mom’s have a tremendous opportunity to SET an EXAMPLE for their children. Husbands and wives have the same powerful role to facilitate spiritual, emotional, and mental development and growth in each other. Can you testify?

Another area of SETTING an EXAMPLE is not only in your FAMILY but what about the MINISTRY? Through teaching, preaching, serving, and ministering is another way that the Lord is using your INFLUENCE—TESTIMONY.

How are you doing in these two areas? Need improvement? Why not start today?

2. Next comes the FRUIT! Not only does God GUIDE but He also PROVIDES! (Phil 4:10) – “But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.”

By the way, the word “careful” is phroneo, which can be translated affection or to think of. Evidently, after not knowing the whereabouts of Paul and then discovering he was in Rome incarcerated two years later, the Church sent a gift delivered by Epaphraditus. Paul is telling them THANK YOU!

The word “flourish” means revived. In other words, God’s people did the Work of God, thus fulfilling the Will of God! Are you doing the Work of God by the power of the Holy Spirit?

Conclusion: This devotion should cause us to evaluate our God-given opportunities. Then seize the moment.

Check out your INFLUENCE: Where do you need to work on improving? Why not pray and then purpose in your heart to fulfill your calling?

Dr. Randy Reese

Be a Lighthouse

Introduction: There are two important proposals for being a LIGHTHOUSE. The first is to remember JESUS CHRIST is the LIGHTHOUSE! Therefore, will you let Him be your LIGHTHOUSE? The second proposal is: Will you be the KEEPER of the LIGHTHOUSE?

Recently, Deanna and I climbed 172 steps to the top of a LIGHTHOUSE which extended 154 feet in the air. After reaching the top and walking out on the balcony, it appeared you could see for miles around the unique island called Tybee—just don’t look down! It’s a long way down to the ground. Anyway, while we were there, we watched a video which traveled through the historical origin of the famous LIGHTHOUSE!

Interesting to note, that after it was built, which included constructing a means of light that would shine a beam that extended for miles, it was discovered that there needed to be KEEPERS of the LIGHTHOUSE. One of the families, named the Jacksons, faithfully made sure on a daily basis that the LIGHTHOUSE was working properly. With the right amount of oil in the lamps, it kept it BURNING. One error would cause a ship to wreck on the jagged rocks that protruded out of the water. With this in mind, consider being a LIGHTHOUSE CHRISTIAN. Also, remember that a LIGHTHOUSE gives ships and boats guidance. Plus, it warns them.

1. Will you let Jesus Christ be your LIGHTHOUSE? (Matt 25:1) – “Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.”

All the virgins needed to be ready for the bridegroom’s return. Actually, they would be the wedding guests. In Jewish customs, the wedding guests would hear the wedding cry and trim their wicks to attend the wedding feast. Yet, in this parable which Jesus told (describing Israel, not the Church)—remember, technically speaking, Matthew’s gospel was written to the Jews—Israel. Later, in the book of Acts, the Church was established. Nevertheless, we can draw some practical conclusions from this passage of Scripture, even though it would be—chronologically speaking—during the tribulation. The Rapture has taken place and the King of the Jews, Jesus Christ (one of the purposes for Matthew’s gospel), would be preparing the Israelites (5 wise virgins) to go into the Kingdom—millennium reign—as wedding guests to join the marriage supper of the Lamb. They had to be ready. Even though this message is to Israel, it is also a message to the Church. We are the bride of Christ, and therefore need to be ready when He comes, as described in 1 Thess. 4:16–18 (a different event called the rapture, not the second coming). Are you getting ready? What do you need to do in order to get ready?

2. Will you be the KEEPER of the LIGHTHOUSE? (Matt 25:2–13) – “And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”

Did you notice that the “FOOLISH virgins” did not prepare? They did not have oil in their lamps! Why? Because they procrastinated and consequently were left behind. The door was shut! How many people today are putting off getting right with God, thinking they have plenty of time? Foolish!! We are not promised tomorrow. Are you keeping oil in your lamp? If so, will you help others get prepared as well?

Conclusion: A Lighthouse gives guidance. A Lighthouse warns. A Lighthouse shines a bright light. Are you shining a bright light for others to see their way through a dark world? Be a Lighthouse!

Shackling the Hands of the Almighty

Introduction: Imagine a person’s deliberate decision and rebellion limiting the supernatural power of God. Really? But can that really happen? Sure it can! And yet honestly, our mighty God can do anything He chooses, regardless of man’s lack of cooperation. Case in point, take for example the life of Jesus. He desired to do “more” but because of those who did not believe, He would not. Can people today put limitations on the Will of God? The Power of God? Can they resist the Holy Spirit to the point that they miss out?

What about the Christian? Can he or she grieve or quench the Holy Spirit so that He backs away, as it were? By the way, written to CHRISTians, the word “grieve” in Ephesians means to OFFEND or hurt. And yet diving deeper into this mystery, take a look at Mark’s gospel, which reveals this phenomenon.

1. Can people be “OFFENDED” today because of God’s work? (Mark 6:2-3) – “And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.”

Did you see that they were “OFFENDED at him”? But you might ask, WHY? First, check out the word OFFEND. It is σκανδαλίζω, which means to entrap, or to trip up. It can mean to stumble. Do you realize when you WITNESS or share TESTIMONIES about the Lord’s goodness and grace that some people will be OFFENDED? Whereas it is great to witness and share our faith in Jesus, please recognize that some will be OFFENDED, even in our own FAMILIES!!

2. Can this OFFENSE limit the workings of Jesus Christ? (Mark 6:4,5) – “Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.”

Unbelievable. Questionable. Remarkable that the ALMIGHTY did no miracles because of their UNBELIEF!

Please note: it was not because He did not want to. It was not because He could not. Instead, it was because they did not want Him to! And so it is today!! Those who refuse and reject Jesus Christ refuse His wonder-working power. Are you refusing His help? How? Do you know someone who is refusing His power? What can you do?

Conclusion: These are very sad words indeed. “And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.”

So remember, if Jesus could do no works with some, we will not be able to as well. Some will doubt. Some will believe. Know the difference.

Love y’all,
Dr. Randy Reese

Connected Instead of Distracted

Introduction: Are you distracted right now? Can’t stay focused? One minute up on the mountain and the next down in the valley. How can we be consistent in our Christian journey? One simple truth that cannot be overlooked is the importance of connecting—and staying connected—with our God throughout the day. This is done not only by worship but also by words—prayer. Consider the life of Jesus Christ: though He was equal with the Father, in His earthly body He practiced the power of prayer. Let’s face it—if He needed to do that, how much more do we?

1. In the early morning, Jesus prayed! (Mark 1:35) – “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.”

Do you start your day off with prayer? Do you end it with prayer? Do you pray throughout the day?

2. Withdrawing from the busyness of life, Jesus prayed. (Luke 5:16) – “And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.”

By the way, you might find it interesting that this was during a very busy time of the day!

3. When facing a major decision, Jesus prayed! (Matt. 26:36–39) – “Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder… Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.”

Big decisions require mega prayers! Are you praying in the will of God for the glory of the Lord?

4. Teaching His disciples the importance of prayer, Jesus demonstrated how to pray! (Matt. 6:9–13) – “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.”

Teaching someone how to pray is not only a great responsibility but also a great privilege. First, we need to be enrolled in the school of prayer. There is no graduation in this class until we get to heaven!

5. When others had needs, Jesus prayed! (John 17; Luke 22:31–32) – “And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.”

Had Jesus not been praying for Peter, he would not have gotten back up when he had fallen! But he did—and was restored. Remember: Jesus is praying for you.

Conclusion: Obviously, there could be many more references to the prayer life of Jesus Christ. But suffice it to say, His life was saturated by prayer. Not only is He praying for us (hallelujah!), but we, like His disciples, need to say, “Lord, teach us to pray.”

Get Filled Up and then Go Pour Out

Introduction: Do you ever feel drained—emotionally, mentally, physically, relationally, financially, or last but not least, spiritually? What do you do when you get like that? Does it seem that you are being pulled in all different directions constantly? Are you becoming more and more exhausted, frustrated, or even irritated? Has stress taken its toll?

Since “CARING, SHARING, and BEARING” can drain you, then listen carefully. Please read prayerfully HEAVEN’S following prescription list:

1. Put off the old you! (Eph. 4:22, 23)

4. Throw your burdens on the altar of the Lord! (1 Pet. 5:7)
Pray when you feel like worrying! (Phil. 4:6–7)
5. Make quick restitution with Jesus and others when needed! (Eph. 4:31–32)
6. Let go of bitterness! (Heb. 12:15)

15. Give generously! (2 Cor. 9:7)
16. Have faith in God! (Mark 11:22–24)
17. Put on the whole armor of God! (Eph. 6:10–18)
18. Throw out the life-line to others who are sinking! (Jude 1:22–24)
19. Be courageous in your calling! (1 Cor. 1:26–31)
20. Yield yourselves daily to the Holy Spirit! (Rom. 6:11; Rom. 8:13)
21. Be determined to stay attached to the Vine as a branch! (John 15:1–7)
22. Live daily preparing to stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ! (2 Cor. 5:10)
23. Get filled up constantly! (Eph. 5:18)
24. Confess your wrongdoings to both Jesus and others! (1 John 1:9; James 5:16)

Conclusion: Truthfully, this list could go on. But for the sake of time and space, it will suffice for now! Actually, if you take this biblical prescription, then there is no doubt you will live a healthy Christian life for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ!

By the way—take these daily!!

Stinking Thinking Or Thankful Thinking

Introduction: Do you realize that we are not what we “eat”? Rather, we are what we “THINK”!

How are you THINKING these days? Are you looking down or up? Are you always THINKING negatively? So how can you CHANGE your THINKING?

While in prison awaiting martyrdom, Paul, inspired by God, writes a letter to the Church of Philippi—but really to us today as well. Contained within the letter are Holy Spirit-inspired instructions on numerous themes including suffering, joy, along with others.

More specifically, in the fourth chapter, after revealing the key to being free from the slavery of worry, he gives some extremely important insights as to how to live in victory with the CHRISTian’s thought life. Here it is; check it out:

1. How to overcome “Stinking Thinking” and turn it into “Thankful Thinking”! (Phil. 4:8) – “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Do not miss that last phrase—“think on these things”!

Is it any wonder that Solomon wrote, {paraphrasing} As a man thinks in his heart, so is he (Prov. 4:24)?

So how can you get victory over negative THOUGHTS? Start reading and memorizing the Word of God! It works, if you work it!

This is how it works: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Rom. 12:1–2) Did you count the steps in these verses? Did you follow the trend? Can you see the principles? Will you study this out? Then will you allow the Holy Spirit to “quicken” it in your heart?

STEP #1 — PRESENTATION
“that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

Have you dedicated your body, soul, and spirit to God? Do it right now.

STEP #2 — TRANSFORMATION
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

The word “renewing” means a complete CHANGE for the better. It means to make fresh, or a new development—a renewal. By the way, it is achieved by God’s power! Do you need a renewal?

STEP #3 — REVELATION
“that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Following the process laid out by God for  “THANKFUL THINKING” leads to a CHANGE of mind, which results in a change of life, which ends in knowing and doing God’s will. That is where fulfillment and happiness in life is found—which everyone wants and needs.

Conclusion: So instead of reading more self-help books or listening to psychiatrists and psychologists, try reading—and then heeding—the Word of God. After all, since Jesus made us (Col. 1:16), He knows how to fix us!

Bless His name!!

Love y’all,
Dr. Randy Reese
