Delighting in the Lord

Introduction: Do you delight in the Lord? If so keep reading… Psalm thirty seven is a Psalm that compares the wicked with the righteous. Needless to say, it is a refreshing fountain to drink from that will never run dry.
Check it out.
1. Exercise Faith in God! (Psa 37:3)
“Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.”
It is never wrong to do right as we trust in the Lord to make things right. Are you trusting our Lord’s (Yahweh) will for your life?
2. Expect the Lord to bring about His will as we seek it. (Psa 37:4)
“4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
The word “delight” is עָנַג: (aw-nag’), which technically it means to be soft, delicate, dainty.
The word “desires” is מִשְׁאָלָה: (mish-aw-law’), which means request, or petition.
In other words, one part of this means as we delight ourselves in God’s will He puts it in our heart to please Him.
David goes on to write,
“Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. 8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.” (Psa 37:7-9)
Conclusion: The word “rest” is דָּמַם: which means to be silent or still. But in our day, how can we do that? The answer is because we’ve read and applied the truth of Psalm 37 into our thinking and life.
Do you agree?
