The Godly vs the Ungodly

Introduction: What are the marks of the “Godly”? What about the “Ungodly”? This is a great Word from the Lord which distinguishes between the righteous and the evil. See if you can tell which one is which. Then decide which one describes you. And finally, make sure through confession and cleansing that your life lines up with the evaluation of those who please the Lord.

1. The INTEGRITY of a Godly lifestyle! (Psa 1:1-2) – “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.”

This is obvious. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out the INTEGRITY of a “GODLY” man or woman. From the inside to the outside, it shows, it grows, and it glows!

Question: How do others see you and me? Are we listening to ungodly counsel? Are we like Lot of old mixing and mingling with the wicked? Are you swimming against the current of this present sinful age?

2. The TESTIMONY of a Godly lifestyle! (Psa 1:3) – “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

Did you take note of the visible evidence of the righteous? There should be some definite characteristics of a “Godly” man or woman – not perfection mind you! But certainly a Godly person will have a propensity to please the Lord.

If that is not the case for you, maybe you need to “check up”? What do you think?

By the way, others can see our FRUIT whether it is good or bad!

3. The DESTINY of the ungodly! (Psa 1:4,5) – “The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore, the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.”

Bad news for the ungodly…..instability, deceptive security, and marred character follows the wicked. Plus, without a change of heart (Ezekiel 36:26,27), unfortunately, their destination is to experience doom.

So if you are reading this now and that describes you, then please TURN from your sin and TURN and put your faith in JESUS CHRIST. He will forgive you and save you!

4. The FINALITY of both the Godly and Ungodly! (Psa 1:6) – “For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”

Fast forward. You are standing before the Lord. What will Jesus say? Now is the time to change.

Conclusion: Well, which one describes you? Do you need to make some adjustments? Confession and cleansing is great for the soul! It honors our Lord Jesus Christ. If your “WALK” lines up with your “TALK” then keep up the GOOD WORK!

Our lifestyle in Christ while living and pleasing Him makes all the DIFFERENCE in the world between GODLY vs UNGODLY.
